Last week, an announcement was made that Year 9's would no longer need to take their SATs. The reason for this is that the DCSF (Department for Children, Schools and Families) feel the stress of the tests is unmanageable for Year 9 students.
The previous year's papers were marked by senior students, or even not marked at all! Some of the papers were lost and have yet to be found.
One Year 9 feels "relieved that they have been banished". However, another Year 9 thinks that "the SATs were a good way of knowing your level".
We would really like to hear from you!

Many teachers feel relieved that SATs have gone, too! SATs created too much pressure, both for you students and for us: we had to teach to an exam, rather than teach what we thought was really useful or interesting for you. And let's not forget the problems every year (not just this year) with the standard of marking....!
But we have a sneaky feeling we haven't heard the end of testing at KS3 yet. Sorry to sound gloomy, but they'll probably bring in something else with a different name. Don't hold your breath!
i can understand why they have scrapped the SAT's but the advantage of sats is that they helped to get pupils used to what GCSE's would be like!
So by getting rid of them i can honestly say that i think that ir will cause more probolems in the future.
If i am totaly honest i do hope they bring a new version of the SATS'S in so then they will help prepare the current pupils for there GCSE's.
